72 Hour Telehealth Prescribing Limit Has Been Removed

In Georgia, the 72-hour telehealth prescribing limit has been removed at this time by emergency declaration. This change will remain in place until the governor suspends the emergency declaration. Telehealth providers are aware of this change and are now prescribing in Georgia in a manner that is consistent with clinical quality and antibiotic stewardship protocols.

The maximum prescription refill duration will be 90 days. Physicians continue to evaluate clinical appropriateness, consider patient safety, and use professional judgment when approving any refill requests. Telehealth providers do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse.
