Carey Brown is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering and has been a member of the Atlanta executive and employee benefits community since the late 1960's.

Carey has been/is active in numerous charitable, community and social organizations including Tommy Nobis Center Board, Buckhead Rotary Club Board, Literacy Action Board, Executive Committee of the Georgia State Golf Association, Cherokee Art Endowment Trust Board, Past President of Cherokee Town and Country Club and Past President of the Georgia State Golf Foundation. Carey has also served on The Alexander Tharpe Fund Board, three terms on the Georgia Tech Alumni Board, including President in 2004-2005, and The Georgia Tech Foundation Board. He was President of the Student Body at Tech in 1968-69 and was named Outstanding Young Alumnus in 1974.

Carey and Sally were married in 1969 and are members of the Cathedral of St. Phillip. They reside in the Brookhaven area and have four granddaughters. They have two living children, Brent, who graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management and an MBA from the Terry School at UGA, and Natalie Houk, a graduate of the College of Charleston. Carey and Sally's son, Tyler (Georgia Tech, IM '01, HTS '01), US Army Airborne Ranger, was killed in Iraq on September 14, 2004. www.tylerbrown.def6.com

John Hearn graduated from the University of Georgia in the early ‘90’s with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance. He joined Unum immediately after graduation and spent ten years “on the carrier side of the business” with stints as Market Manager in Atlanta and Phoenix. In 2004, John joined Univers, a Goldman Sachs Capital Partners Company and the nation’s leading provider of benefit communications, technology and enrollment solutions. “John is one of the most experienced and capable employee communications and technology applications’ professionals out there,” stated the HR Director of a 7,000 employee client of The Benefit Company.

In 2009, John joined The Benefit Company as Principal and Owner. His experience on the vendor side of the business has proven to be invaluable to TBC’s clients. John is thorough in determining where a company’s benefit plan(s) may be enhanced. He is a leading authority on HealthCare Reform and has been asked to speak to several forums on this matter.

John is a member of the 2010 Class of Leadership Georgia. He and his wife, Amy, reside in East Cobb with their three young children. John is heavily involved in numerous civic, church, and alumni activities.

Faye McCorkle graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta with a major in Accounting. She then attended Georgia State University and obtained a Master’s of Professional Accounting Degree with emphasis in Estate and Tax planning. Faye has been with The Benefit Company since its inception. She has assisted clients with their personal/family planning needs as well as corporate and business succession needs.

Faye is also charged with the overall management of The Benefit Company. Her 30+ years of experience with The Benefit Company gives her unique insight into how best to utilize the talents of our team for the benefit of your associates.

Faye is a member of Stone Mountain United Methodist Church and is active in the Atlanta tennis community. She is also supportive of several charitable organizations in the area.

Stacy Cook is a graduate of Georgia State University with a BBA in Marketing and has 20+ years of experience in the employee benefits brokerage arena.

Stacy has extensive experience in managing client groups of 100 to 10,000 employees, including strategic planning, goal setting, and overall account management. Stacy works closely with our clients to provide a single resource for all benefit-related issues and needs.

Renewal & marketing negotiations, medical utilization, health management initiatives, employee communications, enrollment processes and carrier implementations are all key services Stacy offers our clients.

Stacy's hobbies include golf and tennis, when she isn't spending time with her children, Jennifer and C.J., or taking Max (the family dog) for a run.

A graduate of Lasell College, Susan Clark has served the Atlanta employee benefit community for over 20 years, with 15+ of those years being with The Benefit Company. Susan is particularly talented in serving the needs of our clients in emerging markets. This is a specialized area since many companies of this size do not have a dedicated HR person and will rely on Susan and TBC resources for assistance. Susan is also helpful in servicing our clients who are facing the confusing maze of Medicare options and Medicare related policies. She works with our certified Medicare specialist in this area.

Eva Duvall earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Kennesaw State University in 2000. Prior to joining The Benefit Company, Eva was a key account manager with a human resource outsourcing firm based in Atlanta. She was responsible for the oversight and management of benefits administration for large employer clients. Eva also has past experience with a large consulting firm where she excelled as a processing analyst and was subsequently promoted to System Setup Analyst. Eva also held the position of Director of Operations for Leadership Georgia, an affiliate leadership development program of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

The Benefit Company is honored to have Eva as a member of our team. In her role of Benefits Analyst, Eva will support the implementation and ongoing client management for select large employer clients. She will also serve as Director of The Power of Healthy Living™, The Benefit Company’s unique population health management program. Eva will serve as your liaison for this highly regarded program.

Eva serves as an underprivileged child-mentor for The Bridge in Atlanta, volunteers as a committee chair for The Georgia Society of Association Executives and is a Board Member for the Georgia Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Eva currently resides in Vinings and is a member of East Cobb Baptist Church in Marietta.

Crystal Evans serves as a Benefit Analyst for The Benefit Company’s core and emerging market segment. In her client support role, she is focused on, among other things, RFP and renewal process management, as well as year round employee advocacy.

Prior to joining The Benefit Company, Crystal was an HR professional leading Leave Management process development for one of Atlanta’s largest employers. She was responsible for the end-to-end administration of FMLA, State Leave programs and other Absence Management functionality. Crystal previously gained broad HR and benefits experience as a Benefits Administrator in the telecommunications industry. In this role, she was responsible for the administration of all health and welfare benefits and other Leave/PTO programs. Crystal’s technical benefits knowledge, coupled with her experience with complex project management, provides significant value to clients.

Crystal is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in Sociology, and she serves on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Chapter of Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB).

Cathy has 25+ years of experience in employee benefit brokerage and consulting services. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s of Art degree.

Cathy works with employers to determine goals and objectives and assists with developing all aspects of the employee benefit package. She manages the implementation of these plans and the communication to employees. Strategic planning meetings, vendor analysis, and financial reviews are conducted periodically. She has extensive experience in the large group market with expertise in fully insured and alternative funding methods including self-insured products.

Cathy has earned the designation of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and has served as President of the Atlanta chapter. She has also been asked to serve on the advisory board of several carriers in the Atlanta area. She is a member of ISCEBS, WEB and NAHU.

Sam obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Clark Atlanta University in 1989, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1992, he received his Masters of Science in Computer Science from Atlanta University Center, completing his thesis on Conceptual Database designs.

Sam is certified in Microsoft Servers and Desktop Operating Systems, as well as Sonic Wall, Watch Guard and Lynksys Firewall Routers. His working knowledge of operating systems and his computer programming skills make him a valuable asset to our clients and to us. In addition to keeping us up to date on all of the latest technology happenings, he is charged with making certain that any personal data received or disseminated by The Benefit Company is done so in the utmost secured manner possible.

After receiving her degree in Risk Management from the University of Georgia, Sloane Murray was employed with Deloitte Consulting. Since joining The Benefit Company in 2004, Sloane supports clients and their employees with her extensive experience in the utilization of a variety of technology tools and innovative ideas. Sloane will serve as your and your employees advocate on all fronts. She serves as our liaison with United Benefit Advisors and therefore continues to be on the leading edge of technology enhancements in our industry, including, but not limited to on-line enrollment systems, claims utilization and review technology, customized employee benefit centers for your employees and other ground-breaking tools.

Bruce Overton is one of the nation's leading compensation experts. He develops compensation programs for many Fortune 500 companies, as well as for small, entrepeneurial, high-growth companies, in all industries. He analyzes labor markets in order to recommend compensation levels, and he designs specific programs for private and public companies. He frequently advises company Board members on specific executive compensation strategies and has been previously quoted on executive compensation trends in the Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal.

Bruce conducts ongoing seminars and speeches, and he has published over 100 articles on base compensation, incentive compensation, sales compensation, and international compensation. He authored The Executive Compensation Answer Book, which was published by Aspen Law & Business, New York, NY, in 1996, and revised in 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008. Bruce has participated in the development of all courses on executive compensation offered by the American Compensation Association (now renamed World at Work, an international association for Compensation and Benefit professionals). He taught on their faculty for over 20 years and was awarded a life membership.

Bruce conducts his compensation consulting practice from Atlanta, GA, where he leads the Compensation Consulting Group of The Benefit Company. His primary areas of consulting are Base Compensation, Incentive Compensation, and Executive Compensation. In addition to over 20 years of human resource consulting, he has over 18 years line management experience with both large and small companies. He was Director of Worldwide Compensation and Vice President of Personnel while at RJR Nabisco for 12 years. He also served as Director of Compensation and Benefits for Unijax, Inc., and as a Region Personnel Manager with Xerox.

Kevin Panichi graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Actuarial Science. The actuarial aspect of his degree was put to great use on the carrier side of the benefits business as Kevin’s experience includes Senior Underwriter with Cigna and Regional Vice President in charge of underwriting and marketing at Transamerica. Kevin’s post carrier experience includes, among other positions, Chief Underwriter for the Indiana State Teachers Association (a $100 million medical plan). In 2008, Kevin became affiliated with United Benefit Advisors (UBA). While with UBA, Kevin has been instrumental in leveraging our actuarial tools for use with partially self-funded medical plans.

Kevin has also consulted with health management companies serving mid-market employers, community-based wellness programs and hospital organizations seeking to extend their community reach through health management initiatives, including on-site medical clinics.

Kevin has extensive experience with self-funding in the health care arena and analyzes over 35 self-funded financial arrangements per year. Along with The Benefit Company’s team, Kevin will be an excellent resource in determining appropriate risk management strategies when exploring partially self-funded alternatives for your benefit plan. Where appropriate, he also helps clients weigh the advantages of on-site medical clinics and other leading edge concepts.

Kevin and his wife reside in Atlanta, Georgia. Kevin has three adult children and has served on the Boards of several organizations concerning developmental disabilities.

Kathy Reisner's attention to the needs of our executive benefit and individual personal and estate planning clients makes us unique in the marketplace. She is adept at determining which carrier will fit the needs for individual life and disability coverages. Delicate issues can arise during the underwriting of personal life insurance; Kathy's approach to this process makes it much less intimidating for our clients. Kathy also oversees our accounting and financial responsibilities. Kathy has been with The Benefit Company since relocating to Atlanta from Florida in 1995.

The Benefit Company’s Human Resources Practice Leader is Alan Speaker. Alan received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Samford University and his Masters of Business Administration from The University of Alabama. Alan is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society of Human Resources Management and is a Lifetime Achievement Award member of World at Work, a member of the Atlanta Area Compensation Association and the Southeastern Association of Facilitators.

Alan’s previous corporate HR experience includes serving as Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Colonial BancGroup and Vice President of Human Resources at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. Alan’s corporate experience and expertise creates a broad view of the market along with his knowledge of the latest HR and business management practices to deliver real results to our clients.

As The Benefit Company’s HR Practice Leader, Alan leads a team focused on assisting your organization in becoming more effective and efficient in delivering people-related programs and services. Alan will also work with your Board of Directors and/or management team members who need assistance in bringing their visions of improving business performance and adding value to reality. Whether the engagement requires daily involvement on an on-going basis or is a one-time “quick hit” project, each engagement is considered to be unique and based on the needs of your organization.

A graduate of Baker University in Michigan, Salina Wheeler has worked in the employee benefits industry since 1993. Some of these years were served on the carrier side of the business. She serves us well on knowing the thought process of vendors and how to best negotiate with the carriers on your behalf.

Salina is the lead Account Executive for our Emerging Market clients, typically under 150 employees. Her dedication, proactivity, and personal attention to detail is greatly appreciated by the people with whom she works. It is important to Salina that your employees know the value of the benefits you provide and also that your employees understand how their benefits work.
